Pavement Reunion In 2010 Is Really Happening

Every year, that Pavement reunion rumor comes around, and every year it’s a load of hooey, right? Right. Until now. Because this time it’s true. Via an exclusive Rolling Stone interview, in a late-night call from Australia, Pavement guitarist Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg confirms that the Nineties’ finest indie rockers are finally going back to those gold soundz. “It’s been a long time coming,” Kannberg says. “I think in the back of our minds, we always thought we’d do something again. But we never really talked about it until the last couple of months. It’s come together fast.”

Video Debut | Thom Yorke And His Brother Andy Yorke Cover Mark Mulcahy’s “All for the Best”

via YouTube.

Rolling Stone is proud to premiere the video for Thom Yorke’s cover of All For the Best from the upcoming tribute disc Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy. Directed by Melinda Tupling, the video is a David Lynch-like odyssey that fits perfectly with Yorke’s stirring Erasered rendition of the Miracle Legion song. The song is also noteworthy because it features the first time the Radiohead frontman and his brother Andy Yorke, lead singer for the Unbelievable Truth, have appeared together on a song, with Andy’s background vocals complimenting his big bro’s trademark croon.

They Might Be Giants | Contrecoup | Live | From TMBG’s Clock Radio

This song is from the TMBG Clock Radio application which is available for Macs and PCs.

Below is the scoop on this song, from: http://burnhamthorpewest.com/8.html

“Contrecoup”

This song came about when John L was challenged to write a song containing the nearly obsolescent words contrecoup, craniosophic, and limerent. (He also threw in phrenology for good measure.) The result? Another excellent TMBG production with an early-days flavour.

The Church | The Unguarded Moment | Live

via YouTube.

From the 1981 album Of Skins And Heart.

The Church’s debut album, Of Skins and Heart (1981), earned them their first radio hit “The Unguarded Moment.” They were signed to major labels in Australia, Europe and the U.S. However, the U.S. label was dissatisfied with their second album and dropped the band without releasing the album. This put a dent in their commercial success, but they made a comeback in 1988, with the album Starfish and the American Top 40 hit “Under the Milky Way.”

The Feelies Cover Wire | Outdoor Miner | Battery Park, New York | 2008

via YouTube.

The video is not exceptional, but the audio track is decent. I actually didn’t know The Feelies were still making music, and was quite pleased to discover this.

In Memory of Jake Brockman | Echo And The Bunnymen | Ocean Rain | Live In Liverpool | Audio Only

via YouTube.

While this song predates the time when the now late Jake Brockman became a member of Echo And The Bunnymen, I thought it was appropriate considering this quote from his wife, Sally Mundy, after his death:

” . . . he loved sailing though he was invariably seasick.”

Quote via the BBC.
